As a constituent and strong supporter of Rep. Pete Olson (R-22), it was very, very disappointing to see his vote FOR the Continuing Resolution passed by the U.S. House this past Tuesday. Siding with the House leadership team instead of doing the will of the vast majority of CD-22 voters isn't the way to turn this country around.
Only five members of the Texas delegation did the right thing and voted NO:
- · Joe Barton
- · Louie Gohmert
- · Ralph Hall
- · Ron Paul
- · Ted Poe
Hard to believe, isn't it?
The next time you get a piece of rhetoric in the mail from Olson, or Culberson, or Brady, or any other Congressman that claims they are fiscally conservative but can't understand how dire the situation is, just toss it in the trash where it belongs.
If you live in a district represented by one of the five above, consider yourself lucky. And if you don't, I'd like to tell you to work hard and defeat your guy in the primary but I can't do that without letting you know that you are most likely wasting your time. Take a guy like Kevin Brady - he votes like this often and then campaigns as a fiscal hawk and people let him get away with it. How do you beat a guy like that? He has a ton of money to spend and lobbyists waiting in line to help. Good luck.
Rep. Olson, you have a chance to redeem yourself and help save this country from ruin. There will be another vote in three weeks - this time just say no. Please? For the children? I wish I knew what made you tick, if I did, I'd ask please for that.
Bummed in CD-22.
