1. Who are you, and what are you running for?

I am Mary Lou Keel, judge of the 232nd District Court, and I am running for re-election.

2. What kind of cases does this court hear?

The 232nd is a felony trial court.

3. Why are you running for this particular bench?

I have served as judge of the 232nd since 1995, and my professional experience makes me well-suited for its demands.

4. What are your qualifications for this job?

Judge of the 232nd since 1995.

Harris County assistant district attorney 1986-1994

Briefing attorney, First Court of Appeals, 1985-86

Board Certified in criminal law since 1990

5. Why is this race important?

Criminal court judges exercise discretion in serious cases that impact public safety. The discretion extends from setting bonds to approving plea bargains, supervising probationers, conducting jury trials, and assessing punishment. Harris County should demand judges with the experience and temperament to administer justice fairly.

6. Why should people vote for you in November?

I have the experience, knowledge and skill to continue as an effective, fair, hard working criminal court judge.
