It’s been almost a month since voters in Houston rejected the use of “red-light cameras”. They haven’t been removed yet for various reasons but eventually they will be. How did this happen? How did a small group of people, outspent at least 10-1, strip the city of millions in revenue? And why, during an election dominated by Republicans in Texas and nationally, did a huge “rain” tax pass and a “safety” measure fail?
Call me cynical, but it’s not by happenstance that politicians express their support for military veterans on Veterans Day, or any other day for that matter. Too many disingenuous elected officials use the military for cover because it’s politically convenient to do so.
