Judicial Q&A: Marc Brown

(Note: I am running a series of Q&As for judicial candidates in contested Republican primaries. There are a lot of judicial races on the ballot in Harris County this election, and so this is intended to help introduce the candidates and their experiences to those who plan to vote in March. I am running these responses in the order that I receive them from the candidates. Charles Kuffner at Off the Kuff is running the same series for Democratic candidates.)

1. Who are you, and what are you running for?

Marc Brown.  I am running for Judge of the 180th Criminal District Court.

2. What kind of cases does this court hear?

Felony Cases

3. Why are you running for this particular bench?

The Sitting Judge is retiring.  We lost several good Judges in the last election. We cannot have anymore unqualified Judges on these important benches.

4. What are your qualifications for this job?

22 year career prosecutor.  Former Texas Prosecutor of the Year.  Past instructor Texas Center for The Judiciary.  Over 100 first chair Felony jury trials.  Only candidate to have tried death penalty cases.

5. Why is this race important?

Criminal Courts affect most of us more than any other Judicial race.  People need qualified experienced Judges to protect society.

6. Why should people vote for you in the primary?

I am the MOST qualified candidate in the race with the most experience.

7. Why did you choose to run in the Republican Primary versus the Democratic Primary?

I have worked to elect qualified Republican judicial candidates since 1992.  My loyalties are with the Republican party.
